My Keto Diet Results Story
Hi! I’m Erika and I’m a Keto living and loving woman who loves God, my family, my dog, and my keto community – in that order!
In January 2019, I hit my peak (and my rock bottom) as far as my weight was concerned. Topping the scale out at 289 pounds and having failed literally hundreds of attempts to lose weight, I had pretty much accepted that I was going to die early and the rest of my life was going to be spent dragging my sore, inflamed, exhausted self from the bed to the couch, and back again. I was depressed, riddled with anxiety, swollen, felt like the tin man any time I moved, and didn’t feel any hope for my future. I wondered, “Is this just what getting older feels like? Keep in mind I wasn’t even 50 yet!
Finding a Coach with Amazing Keto Diet Results Saved My Life!
In desperation, I reached out to a keto coach I followed on Facebook who had amazing keto diet results. This beautiful woman, Katrina Slagle (known as Coaching with Katrina on Instagram) saved my life. She made me an active participant in my recovery, and she is the first person who told me I was a true carbohydrate addict. This meant I wasn’t constantly failing because I didn’t have enough willpower, but as with any addiction, moderation isn’t possible and always leads to failure. A switch flipped in my brain, and I became a sugar abstainer, not a sugar moderator.
Not getting the keto diet results you hope for? Are you a carb/sugar addict?
Some of you reading this may be sugar/carb addicts and not realize it yet. Some of you may know you’re addicts but don’t realize it means abstaining from sugar and keeping carbs under 20 grams per day to keep cravings away. And some of you may not be addicts and limiting carbs and only engaging in moderation works for you. I would encourage you to be honest with yourselves. When you enjoy sugar and carbs “in moderation,” does this often lead to a spiral back to abusing them? If yes, this means you do have an addiction.

Sugar/carbs are a hard no for me and my heavily addicted brain. Partaking in my drug of sugar is not an option if I want to continue to have the keto diet results I have grown accustomed to. I have “keto-splurge” days, where I will overindulge in keto-friendly foods, but I never ever let even a morsel of a non-keto friendly treat pass these lips. If I do, my cravings will return and I will fall off the wagon. I never want to go through the work of climbing back onto this wagon again!
It’s not a feeling of deprivation for me though, it’s a feeling of empowerment. I choose life and healthy living over indulging my addiction.
On to my “why” for this site:
When I started the ketogenic diet, in 2018, there weren’t many processed keto-friendly products on the market. Eating whole clean keto was much easier. Now, it seems like a new keto-friendly product hits the market every day. Every manufacturer wants to have the words “keto-friendly” on their products. Because of all of these processed keto-friendly foods, one almost needs a degree in food engineering to know what is okay to eat and what is going to lead to amazing keto diet results!
Let me be the first to say, I believe 100% FOR ME whole foods and foods without labels are the best foods to eat. If I start to incorporate keto sweets and use net carbs, I stop losing and don’t feel as good mentally; however, there are many of you that are able to lead a dirty keto life and eat almost any keto-friendly foods as long as the net carbs fit their macros – and they have been hugely successful. I am not here to judge that in any way. If that is you, KUDOS TO YOU!!
