Keto Coach Mary Roberts Interview
I have had the pleasure of getting to know Keto Coach Mary Roberts over the past 4 years after following her on social media, hiring her good friend, Katrina Harris, as my keto coach, and finally meeting her at KetoCon 2022. She was kind enough to give me input on my ingredient ratings and looked over the I Heart Keto Mart website when it was done. I so appreciate her for that!
Mary is an iconic figure in the keto world who is unafraid to shoot straight with her clients and followers. She knows eating disorders are liars and that sugar, carbohydrates, and sweeteners are highly addictive. She runs many groups on overcoming eating disorders and has successfully coached almost 1000 clients since she started her coaching journey 6 years ago.
I reached out to Mary to see if she would be willing to be featured in our first Coach Corner Interview and she was more than happy to oblige.
Mary Roberts Story
“I’m a 51-year-old, married, mother of three boys, obesity survivor, recovering food addict, and recovering bulimic and binge eater. My purpose and passion are helping other people find their freedom from food. One of my life’s missions is to let people know they don’t have to continue to suffer.
I’ve had a dysfunctional relationship with food since I was a kid. I started dieting in high school and before high school was out I was hospitalized for bulimia. All through my adult life, I have battled bulimic behavior, yo-yo dieting, body dysmorphia, and most of all compulsive and binge eating.
I’ve been on every diet imaginable from the reasonable to the extreme. Until I accepted that I was not capable of moderation when it came to most carbohydrates, I was unable to start the process of breaking free.
Mind Over Matter
Keto is an amazing real food way of eating, the proper human diet, and while it did fix my health issues, it did not fix my mindset. It paved the way for me to get my mind right, but I had to do that work. I had to make the paradigm shift to see food in the proper context. Food cannot be my comfort, entertainment, or reward-it must be my fuel. That doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy my food, because I most certainly do, but it is no longer the center of my universe, doesn’t dictate my days, doesn’t disrupt my life and doesn’t make me sick.
Social Media Presence
I’m a girly girl so if you follow me on Facebook or Instagram you’ll see me post about shoes, my hair, and clothes as well as my meals, information about food addiction and recovery, my experiments, my workouts, gym selfies, an occasional rant, Keto education, my dogs, coffee, my travels, coaching, KetoCon news, and most recently my tummy tuck journey – or anything I might feel like posting.
Heart for Helping
My passion is helping others break free from food obsession and emotional eating, which is a result of eating disorders/disordered behavior with food. I also have a heart for working with type two diabetics, to help reverse their diabetes through a real food way of eating, and overcoming their disordered relationship with food.
You can get to know me more on one of the dozens of podcasts and YouTubes I’ve been a guest on. You can also hear recordings of me as a speaker at KetoCon, the Low Carb Cruise, and the Quit Sugar Summit.”
